SEA WORLD - A WHALE OF AN INDUSTRIAL PROJECT

CHALLENGE: To perform Cleaning, Blasting, and Coatings operations without interruption to any daily scheduled shows.

PROJECT SCOPE:

• Constructed a massive, mobile, 100% contained operations platform. This platform and containment system was constructed to keep both Shamu and Sea World guests protected from all renovation activities.
• Waterblasted all surfaces, then Abrasive Blasted all corroded surfaces. SERVICE PAINTING CORPORATION operated a unique “Sponge Jet”-blasting system to reduce all blasting dust by 90%.
• All surfaces were then spot primed and striped with an Epoxy Mastic followed by a full intermediate Epoxy coating then finished with a High Performance Acrylic.
